2021 Volkswagen Atlas: Poised for Dominance
Volkswagen’s U.S. consumer market is dominated by one vehicle – the Atlas. This large-scale, three-row SUV accounts for 40 percent of all Volkswagen sales in the U.S., so there’s no questioning its appeal.
But what changes does Volkswagen have planned for the Atlas in 2021? Recent announcements from the company shed some light on that subject, and buyers can expect intriguing developments in aesthetics as well as performance.
Let’s start at the front – and the back. With a redesigned grille and bumper, Atlas announces itself with both strength and style. And if you want to light the way with power and clarity, Atlas buyers can choose new LED headlights with integrated fog and cornering lights. Even in rain, fog and snow, you’ll get a stunningly clear view of the road. In the same vein, new LED tail lights will make you visible from behind – and they’re as durable as they are efficient.
The 2021 Atlas comes with a 3.6-liter V6 engine with 276 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque, or for those who prefer, a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder engine with 235 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Either way, that’s a lot of power.
When you make contact with the road, you’ll do it boldly, as the new Atlas offers 20-inch alloy wheels. And since drivers don’t have a lot of time to waste, Atlas’s new remote power liftgate gives you a head start on loading up by opening the liftgate with a mere press of the key.
It makes sense for things to be as quick and simple as possible. The 2021 Atlas accomplishes that by allowing owners to start their vehicle remotely from inside their home, so it will be warmed up and ready on the coldest of days. Another convenience feature offered on the 2021 Atlas is the wireless charging pad so drivers can arrive with a fully charged phone – minus the hassle of fumbling for charger cords.
Don’t overlook Atlas’ driver-assistance technology, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitor, Light Assist and Lane Centering. All these features work together to help you have adequate lighting ahead, stay in your lane, avoid side collisions and maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you.
And to take simplicity to its height, you can control many of Atlas’s features through the Volkswagen Car-Net app. It’s your key to a variety of standard features and add-ons, and control is right there in your pocket when you need it.
Atlas is popular because it consistently offers this combination of performance, style and comfort, and Volkswagen has made sure the 2021 model is no exception.
