It's back to school time and we need your help to ensure every child has a safe, happy and successful year by driving out bullying. Here are some helpful tips for #tiptuesday to stop or prevent bullying.

 Did you know in 88% of all bullying incidences, bystanders are present? In 90% of these incidences, when the bystander speaks up, the bullying stops. 

TIP #1: If you see something, say something!
            * Refuse to be an audience for the bully
            * Do not laugh while someone is being picked on 
            * Do not participate in gossip

Remember  the old saying "Sticks and Stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me? WRONG!!! 

TIP #2: Know the different types of bullying and take all of them seriously. 
              * Physical bullying
              * Verbal bullying
              * Indirect bullying such as spreading rumors, excluding and ganging up 
              * Cyber bullying (sending insulting texts, pictures or threats by email, phone or social media)

Signs of bullying are often overlooked or written off as "moody teenagers" or "laziness" & prevents the success of early intervention.

TIP #3: Know the warning signs of bullying and ask the tough questions. 
              * Withdrawal from friends & activities  
              * Physical complaints
              *  Worried, angry, moody
              * Nightmares
              * Absenteeism, declining schoolwork, failing grades, lack of engagement
